Luxury and comfort propel the e-tron forward as an electric vehicle option.
When we think of electric cars, Tesla might be the first thing that comes to mind. With the changing times, however, more and more automakers are introducing their own electric vehicles. Audi, for example, released their first all-electric vehicle—the e-tron—in 2019. We think it has proved itself a worthy competitor against Tesla. We are going to compare four main features to determine why we think the e-tron is the superior option!
Safety
When it comes to safety, the e-tron is our clear winner. The e-tron features the Audi pre-sense rear, Audi pre-sense city, and Audi side assist, all of which ensure you maintain safe distances, navigate traffic, and avoid accidents.
The Tesla X, on the other hand, features automatic emergency brakes, forward-collision warning, blind-spot warning, stop sign recognition, and stoplight recognition. While these are still useful, we believe the e-tron provides a broader array of features when it comes to safety.
Technology
The e-tron, once again, rises above the Tesla in the technology category. In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the e-tron has wireless phone charging capabilities. The Audi e-tron also charges more easily, and sometimes, even more quickly than the Tesla X. In about 30 minutes, you can achieve up to 80% charge. It will take about 9 hours, when properly equipped, to fully charge at home.
Tesla currently lacks the option of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Tesla X can take 10 hours to achieve a full charge. We know Teslas are, at their core, technologically progressive vehicles. There are other automakers, however, like Audi, who have advanced further than Tesla on many levels, including technology.
Luxury
The e-tron is also much more luxurious than the Tesla. The Audi e-tron has optional dual-pane windows, which help to soundproof the vehicle. That, paired with the quiet motors, leads to a more pleasant ride. The seats come with leather upholstery, and ventilation in the front seats is standard. There is even an available massage feature!
Tesla does not offer the massage feature or the ventilation. The second row does not fold, which makes storage space a bit more awkward. If you’re looking for luxury, the Audi e-tron is the electric vehicle for you.
Ride
The e-tron provides a smoother, more enjoyable ride. The horsepower here can go up to 402, while the Tesla X can only reach a horsepower of 328. When boost mode is activated, the e-tron can reach 60mph in just 5.5 seconds! The adaptive air suspension contributes to the smooth ride of the e-tron. The Tesla X is not as fun or smooth to drive as the Audi e-tron.
Bonus: Audi e-tron Sportback
As a bonus, we are also going to look at the 2022 e-tron Sportback. This model is, if you hadn’t guessed, a sportier version of the e-tron. Unsurprisingly, the Audi e-tron Sportback delivers on style, inside and out! It also excels at ride quality and comfort. The e-tron Sportback even has a light off-roading ability. We are excited to see what else is in store for the Audi e-tron line.
