The engine is paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The standard Quattro all-wheel-drive gives 0-62 mph in 5.1 seconds.

The distinguishing features of the 2008 S5 from the A5 are vertical chrome inlays in the grille, quad tailpipes, and aluminum mirror housings. The single-frame grille is finely customized to the S5.
