Overview |
Unveiled along with its sibling Audi S5 at the 2007 Geneva auto show in Switzerland, Audi A5 is an exceptional beauty. The all-new 2008 Audi A5 coupe has a sleek two-door body that seats four passengers. It has been designed and engineered with the muscular FSI engine, high-precision running gear, and a raft of innovative, luxury-class equipment features for the modern driver. |
Powertrain and Performance |
The 2008 A5 is powered by a 3.2-liter direct-injection V-6 that pumps 265 horsepower and sprints 0-60 mph in 6.1-seconds. A direct-injection turbocharged 1.8-liter Inline-four is also offered. The A5 is available with two transmission choices: a six-speed manual gearbox and a continuously variable multi-tronic automatic (CVT). A front-wheel-drive and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive configurations are also available as options. |
Build and Styling |
At both the front and rear of the 2008 A5, the primary components of the suspension are made of aluminum. The front suspension features double wishbones. A keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels along with automatic air conditioning, integral MMI information and operating system, audio system with CD player and separate screen, and power-opening trunk lid are some standard A5 comfort features. The new comfort key and the electromechanical parking brake also figure in the standard package. |
Safety Features |
The 2008 A5 is equipped with six standard airbags that include the front and side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags for both rows. Four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes, traction control, and an electronic stability system are other standard safety technologies. The A5 features a revised design that moves the engine farther back for better balance and allows it to meet pedestrian crash safety standards. |
